Spreading the Greeting of Salam

The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "You will not enter Paradise until you believe, and you will not believe until you love one another. Shall I not guide you to something which, if you do it, you will love one another? Spread the greeting of peace among yourselves."

Three things, whoever combines them has combined [complete] faith: being fair to yourself [in judging your own faults], extending the greeting of peace to all people, and spending [in charity] even while in poverty.

It is narrated from Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with both of them) that a man asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "Which aspect of Islam is best?" He said: "That you feed [others] food, and that you greet with peace those you know and those you do not know."
